Riad Noga, Morocco
The Riad Noga first and foremost is an oasis of tranquility from the hot and dusty streets of Marrakech.
Once inside the doors of the Noga one can be guaranteed a sense of instant calm in this very stylish and sophisticated maison d'hôte. The two rooms in the original Main House are positioned around a central courtyard, which is dominated by the beautiful orange and bougainvillea trees and Moroccan mosaic fountain.
The rooms are tastefully furnished and decorated in soft, subdued colours. Sharing this space with you is the resident African grey parrot and 2 tortoises - beware the latter enjoy nothing more than a nibble of one's toes!
The Guest Wing, which is divided by an ornate handcarved door, is more vibrantly decorated. The central feature is the beautiful green-tiled heated swimming pool, set in a terracotta-red arched courtyard. Breakfast is included in the price of your stay, however the Noga has an excellent reputation for its food, and lunch and dinner can be prepared by prior arrangements by their chef, Fatima, who will be happy to prepare anything from a traditional Moroccan dish to a salad for those who may have enjoyed one too many tagines!
Gabriele the owner is incredibly friendly and will happily advise on any aspect of your stay in Marrakech, including arranging in-house spa and beauty treatments, or a visit to the more European-friendly hammams. The Riad Noga is the perfect antidote to the hurly-burly of the world outside its walls, and the hardest thing one will find after a day or two there is finding a reason to leave this haven of serenity in the first place!
