Our Italian Portfolio features properties ranging from four star country hotels to Agriturismo apartments with pools. They all share our preference for staying somewhere with character and charm, where there is a commitment to quality and service.
They range from restored farmhouses and Alberghi di Charme in the hilly countryside of Umbria, to family run bed and breakfasts in the unexplored Marche, from a unique renovated Cilento Palazzo and a Masseria in Puglia to a family friendly villaggio on the Calabrian coast.
All our properties have been chosen so you have places of historical interest to explore. In Sicily, our properties provide different bases for sightseeing including two hotels on the relatively unknown western side. In Umbria, local towns such as Todi and Citta di Castello, and Ascoli Piceno in the Marche, will be enjoyed by everyone.
This year sees us slipping across the Umbrian border to Tuscany, which we have rather avoided in the past as too discovered and too full of Hampstead residents, but the discovery of an estate of beautiful villas in the Val d’Orcia overcame our inverted snobbery.
The setting of our properties is as important as the accommodation, and it was our recent discovery of the dramatic landscape of inland and coastal Basilicata that led us to our new properties in that region.
We also know that food is important when you take a holiday in Italy, and all our properties make the best of traditional cuisine, or are situated near good local restaurants and shops. To make sure you have access to the abundance of riches in Italy's cities, we have included our favourite hotels in Rome, Florence, Naples and Palermo for a weekend break.
