City Breaks Italy

Rome is my favourite short break city because a few days always leaves you knowing you must come back to see more of the historical and artistic icons that you missed this time. Whether wandering at night through the Centro Storico, tracking down Caravaggio's paintings in the church of Santa Maria del Popolo, indulging in some chic shopping in the Via Condotti or imagining gladiatorial contests in the Colosseum, you can use our preferred hotel either as a short break or as a prelude or epilogue to a one or two week holiday stay in one of the other properties in our brochure - (City Break Rome)

No other city has the effect of transporting you back to the Renaissance like Florence does, as you walk down its narrow streets and emerge into another piazza. Whether it's a famous Michelangelo statue or a less well known Masaccio fresco, a medieval market place or an Oltrano restaurant, you quickly become immersed both in the art and the life of Florence. Two or three nights staying here in our charming 16th century three star hotel in Florence, soon reveals what a beguiling city this is. Why not add a visit here to one of our holidays to Umbria to see why an erstwhile student visitor like myself comes back again and again?

Palermo is a fascinating city - incredibly lively and noisy yet with its own very distinct style, which comes from a combination of impressive churches, elegant palazzos and stately piazzas, with narrow streets and alleys as in a half-remembered film, bustling markets and an undisciplined rush of life.

Naples is a fascinating city to visit for a weekend break or alternatively combine a few days at our hotel in Naples, the Micalo, with a stay at Palazzo Belmonte or La Locanda delle Donne Monache to give a perfect two centre holiday.
